In Search of the Best Pain Clinic in LA: The Pitfall of Prior Diagnoses

By | April 5, 2012

At Schlesinger Pain Centers the major diagnostic goal is avoid the mistakes of those who have come before us.

The best pain clinic in Los Angeles would know that in the diagnostic process it is critical to clearly differentiate what is know from what has been said or only suspected.  As a referral practice, chronic pain patients often come to Schlesinger Pain Centers with a number of labels or diagnoses attached.  I am always careful to stop the patient when they suffer from this condition or that and ask them who made that diagnosis and how was it made.  As we said in an earlier blog patients only come to see me because the people whom they have seen before have been unable to help them.  The best pain clinic in LA would know that one of the best ways to do this is to have the wrong diagnosis, and since I do not want to repeat the mistakes of those who have come before me I always go back to the history, physical, lab work and original imaging studies and ask myself if the diagnosis is really supported by the facts.  In a surprising number of cases it isn’t.
