Pain pumps are not a set it and forget it devices. Successful therapy depends more on follow up care than the pump itself.

Pain pumps are not a set it and forget it devices. Successful therapy depends more on follow up care than the pump itself.

The best pain clinic in Los Angeles would know that the most important part of cancer care is follow up care and In today’s blog I would like to give you some information on Robert, last week’s Friday morning cancer pump (IDDS). After a bit of a rocky night on Saturday, the day after his implantation he has had a substantial relief of pain. I saw him last Sunday and have seen him nearly every day the Burbank offices of Schlesinger Pain Centers. Yesterday we activated his PTM (Patient Therapy Manager) Device so that he can now give himself small boluses (additional doses of medication). He is sleeping better and his appetite is beginning to improve. Over the coming weeks we will fine-tune his infusion mixture and the doses of medication in his daily infusion and bolus doses.
