Multi-Segment Spine Disease

The occurrence of lower back pain and occult neck problems is becoming increasingly common.

It has become increasingly common to see patients with disease at multiple levels in the spine. This can be due to the increasingly severe levels of vehicular trauma we seem to be experiencing these days or to field defects involving the entire spine. As a rule when a problem is identified in one part of the spine problems should be suspected in other parts of the spine.

At Schlesinger Pain Centers we have seen several patients who presented initially with lower back pain, which was resistant to normal treatment, who later began to complain of symptoms in the neck or upper extremities. It was only after treating the problems in the neck, that full resolution of the lumbar symptoms occurred.
